Oh yes! It’s that time of year for sure!
- Eyes Itchy and watery — Check!
- Sneezing like crazy — Check!
- Nose running like crazy — Annnnd Check!
Yup, it’s allergy season!
GAWD! My eyes are itchy!! I’m broke at the moment too so I can’t get any allergy medicine till either PayPal deposits into my account or Payday gets here.
I’m trying to not rub my eyes, because anybody who suffers from hay fever allergies knows that’ll make it a lot worse. But it’s so freggin’ hard not to! ![]()
So I’m resorting to clenching my eyes shut really hard out of hopes it will provide a bit of relief.
Damn! this is going to suck at work tomorrow!
The wind is blowing nicely enough to help blow all that pollen around. Super – duper!
I better shut up all the windows before this gets worse.

I used to take all sorts of allergy medicines, they either gave me horrible headaches (Claritin gave me such a bad headache I ended up in the ER, if it lasted any longer I probably woulda gotten CT scans and stuff) or my body gog used to the pill in a week and it stopped working.
Been taking Benedryl lately and it works like a charm, and I don’t get tired from it like some people.
I’ve also found washing my sheets every few days helps a lot.
Hmm. I’ll have to remember that. Thanks JS!
I sympathise, I get hay fever too. Bloody awful sometimes, so I can really feel for ya. I find eating a lot of naturally (and locally) produced honey helps.
Really? Honey?
I’ve heard about the honey thing too. But like Rich says, it has to be locally produced.
Oh, and I feel your allergy pain. My hay fever is flaring up too. Best thing that I have used for mine was Flonase which I started taking originally because of nasal polyps. Which reminds me I should get off my a$$ and file for VA disability. Allergy doc when I was active duty told me that nasal polyps were an almost guarantee for 20% disability combined with asthma.
DL, I don’t know of any local Honey producers up here. The bee population is declining, didn’t you know?
I had to look up WTF a nasal polyps was. All I have to say to that is Eeewww.
ick:
Try the neti pot, allergy fighting foods (numerous studies have shown that people who eat foods rich in omega 3′s are less likely to suffer from allergies). Hmm let’s see stinging nettle (works similar to an anti histamine but it’s a natural alternative), or the neti pot.
A few of my family members/friends have allergies but could keep them at bay following a few of the recommendations I listed above. The most effective for the majority was the neti pot.
Yes the bee population has dropped some experts say as much as 50% within the last four or five decades. The culprit is the varroa mite it takes them out. Interesting studies have been done on natural remedies that are effectively wiping out the mites and keeping the bees healthy.
The past few years I’ve though about purchasing bees but I held off I just haven’t had the time, but next year I’ll be purchase a few hives. I don’t want them for the honey just the benefits they’ll have on my crops. They’ll have a blast in my garden.
Anyway I hope you feel better soon!
Opal, you’re full of it. Knowledge that is.
