At The Races
Monday, July 6, 2009 21:30 | 131 viewsI know this is a little bit late, but I’ve been feeling kinda crappy the past few days so I never really got around to posting this on Saturday when I got back from the races.
The weather was nice enough to hold up on the rain. The event was free and my Brothers stopped in to take us all to the races, just to get out for awhile. My brother from Ontario was down so it was nice to spend a little time together.
I was even crazy enough to splurge on some poutine that cost $4.50 for a small portion. Both my nephew and myself were hungry, so it didn’t matter. It was yummy non the less despite the price tag.
We got at the speedway about an hour and a half to early, which proved to be a good idea since the place filled up pretty damn fast.
This was my first time there, and I had to laugh at just how loyal the racing fans are. They go all out especially for their kids. Parents had all their youngsters wearing them large headsets to protect their ears from the noisy cars. And boy, those cars sure did get loud too.
The first race that started was the one that caught my attention. The announcer (forget the correct title at the moment) kept saying a name that sounded familiar, but was drowned out by the cars every time he said it. When the winning car parked in the winners arena the announcer said the drivers name again, and “I thought he was saying who I though!” moment came about.
Trent Noble from Tracy, is somebody I used to work with and became friends with way back about 11 or 12 years ago. I thought it was odd that a person who fell asleep at the wheel, totaling his cars several times while driving home from work after working a 12+ hour shift was racing cars now. I think the black car he was racing was actually the one he bought for winter driving in case he fell asleep at the whee again. LOL.
Well, there were a couple of slips and spills, but I didn’t get anything on camera, and we all left about an hour into the races. It got kinda boring after the first 30 or so. I was there for the fender benders and wrecks, but there weren’t enough to keep the crew busy and entertained, so we left.
We really needed dome Tim Horton’s Coffee anyway. ![]()

That’s INTERNATIONAL speedway to you! I can’t believe that they race around that itty bitty oval for a zillion laps and come back for more.
