Boldly Going

The ashes of James Doohan, the Canadian-born actor who played chief engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on the original “Star Trek” TV series, have been loaded into a rocket that is set to launch in New Mexico later this month.
The remains of Doohan, Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper and some 200 others were loaded into the rocket Friday by Charles Chafer, chief executive of Celestis, a Texas company that contracts with rocket firms to send cremated remains into space. “And we’re ready to go,” Chafer said after inserting the silver canister.
US$495 will allow you to have a few grams of your loved one’s ashes placed on the rocket. That’s quite the price tag ain’t it? What are you supposed to do with the rest of the ashes?
I think it would be neat if they allowed you to shoot your entire body out into space. Just think what other life forms would think if they found you floating through space and then brought you back to life thinking you were in some sort of suspended animation. It’s a win win situation right. You get a new life, meet new life and civilizations. But instead they find a test tube full of your ashes and smoke you.
I wonder, do they shoot you out into space, or do you orbit the earth with all the other space junk?
It’s sad to see some of the actors I grew up watching pass away. Bringing into reality that life is short. Death really sucks donkey balls. It’s starts off as a happy beginning, and ends in a sad cruel way. That’s why I plan on living forever, so far so good.
You know? If somebody was smart they could actually cash in on this whole, “Send Your Ashes Into Space!” idea. Seriously! There are rockets you can actually build on your own for a few hundred bucks, and they can actually leave earths orbit. I saw these things on the Discovery Channel, they had a group of armature rocket enthusiasts that could actually send these suckers out of Earths orbit. So why not load a few test tubs of ashes in them and rake in the coin? Oh well that’s just my opinion, and you’re entitled to it.
Anyway, back on track here, we’ll all miss you Mr. Doohan.
