A Devil Without A Tail?

Sunday Jun 22, 2008

I currently own a Dirt Devil vacuum, and although I’m a fan of it’s usefulness in getting the job done, I am not a fan of the wicked noise levels and that overly long power cord that I have to carry around while using it. You will see what I mean if you watch the video of me using the very noisy Dirt Devil vacuum while trying to move the power cord around while vacuuming. I don’t know if you’ve ever accidentally rolled the vacuum over the power cord before, but if you haven’t, lets just say the noise will scare the pants off of you.

5238dd240x180public I’m all for more greener environmentally safe products but in this case the fact that there is a cordless vacuum by Dirt Devil is very pleasing to know. My next purchase will be the AccuCharge Energy Star vacuum by Dirt Devil. Click on the ad to the right to watch a video from them if you want to see it in action. I especially like the part that they show the person vacuuming up pet food, Buddy and Brain both are slobs when it comes to eating their food, I am constantly trying to keep their food area free of crumbs, but my current Dirt Devil just scatters them around because it doesn’t have that hard surface feature like the AccuCharge Energy Star does.

It charges in a couple of hours, there no cord to hang yourself with, it just has to be quieter than my current vacuum. And best of all, I’ll have a free hand to hold my nice cold Keiths Beer while I’m house cleaning. No more running back and forth to fetch my drink on. :D

Unfortunately, I don’t have the funds to hire a Maid, or have my pets trained well enough to lick up their messes, and if I had it my way, I would avoid cleaning all together, but that’s not going to happen. So it’s back to housecleaning whenever I have the chance and risking the possibility of getting hung by the vacuum’s terribly long power cord. :-s

Firefox 3 Bandwagon

Thursday Jun 19, 2008

I’ve been using the Firefox 3 browser for awhile now, just recently upgraded from Firefox 3 Beta, and I am happy to say that the latest Firefox 3 is so much better than the previous versions, even though those were still better than any alternative.

It’s actually amazing that when the latest version was released it actually broke records on the most amount of downloads in a single hour. I believe it is still breaking records at the moment. There was a time when the site was down because it was overwhelmed with too many people downloading.

When you download the latest version, you’ll immediately notice the speed difference. I can see them overtaking Internet Exploder in no time because this browser is up to date with the latest on web technologies.

The chart pretty much makes up my mind as to why I want to stick with it. Why would you want something that is always behind in the game, a security risk, slow, and not open to be personalized.

I also really like the built-in spell checking, session restore and full zoom features it has. I really REALLY like the spell checking though, because my spelling can be atrocious. (Yes, spell check gave me the spelling to that.)

OH, and did I mention I like the spell checking function? :D

The security has been beefed up even more which makes it one of the most secure browsers to date and all at the click of your mouse.

If you like to shop online but don’t trust the site your on, you can check out their security certificate with a click of a mouse.

A visual confirmation that the site you’re on is secure is always good in my opinion, which you are entitled to.

All around great browser, lets all hope they keep up the great work in the future developments of the browser.

Web Hosting Can Be Hard To Find

Wednesday Jun 18, 2008

But fortunately for me, I finally found a host that gave me the ultimate plan that was only available for a very short time. Ever since I changed my Wordpress Theme the real load times from the server I’m on are showing off just how great of a Hosting provider THC is. Plus the fact I just had to pay $95 for a life long plan and more space and bandwidth than I can shake a stick at.

If you’re looking for fast web hosting with awesome 24/7 support then you should brows through THC’s plans, they have something new practically every month. But if you don’t want to take my word for it, then you can use a web hosting review site like Web Hosting Geeks where you can read user comments about the hosting providers they have had experience with.

The users of the site give their web hosting reviews on hosting providers that they have or have tried before. Not all the reviews are positive, so at least you’re getting the dirt needed when trying to find your particular hosting provider. This is something unique when it comes to web hosting directories, not all of them have user input  and feedback on hosting services, but instead just have hosting ads which are obviously paid placements. I would rather hear what the users are saying, not what the affiliate is saying.

Being a web site designer in my free time, I have actually been with several web hosting providers only to be very disappointed with the service and having to move to yet another bad experience. After awhile I just got really tired of the web hopping and read a lot of Web Hosting articles that gave tips on what to look for in a hosting company. You can read such web hosting articles on their site also. I would recommend that you read some of these if you’re looking for a hosting service. They help you determine what kind of hosing platform you should need for your particular web site, and also tell you what to look for when surf shopping around for one.

Web Hosting  doesn’t always have to be frustrating. As I have learned, that doing your homework and not just jumping on the first good deal that you see, is always good practice. I just wish that all these articles and reviews were around when I first started out when Domains Cost $100 a year and hosting was $30 per month for 10MB space.

Live and learn I guess huh?

Where Gamblers Meet

Monday Jun 16, 2008

I am not a very big gambler, but I do enjoy the occasional online game every once in awhile. I especially enjoy playing the free poker games that give you a couple of bucks just for signing up with them. As a matter of fact, I have been using an account for about 5 months now, using the same free cash that I was given when I first signed up with. I have been just playing and winning a little and loosing a little. I’ve yet to spend any of my own money.

There is an online world now when it comes to online gambling and gaming these days and there are gambling communities popping up all over the web too. Online Casino Reports is just one such place. There you can experience what all the other online gamblers and gamers are experiencing. You can play some of their free online games or read up on some of their gambling guides to bone up on your knowledge on playing that perfect game.

The online forum is there to help you find answers or share tips with other players. The forumes are almost a comminity on their own because there’s always some sort of discussion thread going on in there.

I think what makes Online Casino Reports unique is their online gambling videos. There you can watch videos that keep you up to date with the latest news on the online gambling scene. This section of the site interests me the most because it lets you in on important things like what sites you might want to avoid, who is scamming their players, or who you should go with and what online gambling sites are hotest at the moment. For me, video content interests me the most and is more likely to catch my interest, and that is exactly what the videos on this site do. The weekly edition videos inform me of the weeks headline events, interviews from the top poker players and they usually give some very usefull tips too.

But if the whole video experience isn’t your piece of pie then you can use the online gambling news magazine service to keep up to date any way you want. Using the gaming forums, guides, and their other services will keep you informed, give you the latest tips, and let you know of any upcomming events that you might like to attend.

If you’re like me, and you would just like to sit back and enjoy a few online gambeling games, then you can play any one of their free games. These games range from anything like Casino games right down to racing games. There are a whole lot to choose from so you should expect to spend a lot of time playing these ones.

Of course this is all just my opinion, and you’re entitled to it. :D

Web Hosting Help

Sunday May 25, 2008

Lately you can’t open up a web site without seeing some sort of advertising for a Web Hosting service these days.

Everybody claiming to be the best hosting provider over the others, offering unlimited space and bandwidth and so on and so on.

But what do you get with all those extra Giga Bites of space in terms of service? Are you going to actually need all that space and bandwidth? Is is more than what you need?

How does one know what hosting service is best for them? The answer that I think nobody really knows, because each web site is unique in it’s own way and will have its own individual needs. You can read some of the web hosting articles found on WebHost Rating’s blog. They are actually working on a Web Hosting Rating engine soon to be released for easier Web Hosing searching.

The post, ‘3 Things to Consider When Finding Cheap Web Hosting‘ makes a valid point about shared hosting plans when sharing a server with abusers. What if your site is very important to your income and your sites ability to be indexed on search engines becomes a problem because somebody on the same Server IP is getting the IP banned from the search indexers? Anybody who has a blog knows about scrapers and spammers, these scum suckers have to be hosted someplace too. What if you’re sharing a server with a few humndred right now?

I have to say that my host is probably the best for me, and anybody else out there with a blog. THC has the support that goes above and beyond their call of duty and have the fastest servers I have ever been on in the several years of having my sites hosted, new on the scene,  but experienced in know how. I believe they should be at the top of WebHost Rating site when it is up and running with the lists of hosting providers.

If you are planning on setting up shop on the internet and wish to have your site hosted, then you might want to read through these web hosting articles first to help you out with knowing what is needed to know when selecting a web hosting plan.

This is just my opinion, and you’re entitled to it.

Empty Plastic Bag For Sale On eBay

Saturday May 17, 2008

It’s amazing what people will and can sell on eBay these days! When I saw this for sale on eBay and at the time the bid was up to $10.55!

It’s a Fazoli’s Restaurant bag for crying out loud! I have a whole shopping bag full of grocery bags, maybe I can sell them all of for $5 a piece ya think?

I mean eBay is great and everything, since I bough my awesomely cool Digital Camera from the site, but I just get amazed at what people will actually buy these days from eBay.

I should go through all my junk that I have gathered up over the years. Yes, I’m a bit of a Pack Rat, but not really serious though, I do eventually throw things out….eventually.

But instead of throwing things out, I should sell them on eBay. Then again, thinking about all the hassle of posting several items all at once and arranging postage to whatever Country it has to be shipped to is a lot more of a pain in the butt that it is just chucking it out into the trash.

If I actually do decide to do something like this chances are I would use a service such as iSold It and let them have a cut of the pie for doing all the tedious work when dealing with pricing, photographing, and posting. After all, it’s just my junk that I would be getting rid of and having people buy it.

iSold It just needs to get a store where I live though, I’m not sure of any other companies that do this around here.

This is a pretty neat idea though, when you think about it, all you have to do is drop your stuff off and just wait for the check to come.

I’ve heard of some pretty weird things being sold on eBay. Things like potato chips that look like something, or somebody selling ad space on their forehead.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen for sale on eBay?
