Nobody Watching?

Saturday Jun 28, 2008

So I have had the web cam running for just over a month now and not one view was recorded into the logs. I was wondering why for the longest time too.

Every time I went to the page, it was working, so I just assumed it was working for the rest of the world.

I was wrong.

Last night I was chatting with Corey and we half arsed tried to get it to work, but we both were a bit under the influence to say the least. But we were on the right track as far as what the problem was though.

It had to do with some port forwarding because of the router that I have to connect my PC to my PlayStation 3.

Well today I have it fixed and it is working properly again. I know that the web cam is working because I had it tested by John Raul from the Philippines.

So if you want to watch the Cat Cam or Me sometimes, you can visit the web cam page since it’s working again.

Extreme Makeover - Web Site Edition Pt. 2

Monday Jun 9, 2008

Well I got that nasty base64 code removed and replaced it with the proper footer where it was placed to screw over folk that use the template.

I also have the web cam page updated, since there’s a new web cam in the house. :D

Nothin’ but lazy hot pussy is all that you will see in the cam though. The humidity and heat are getting to them I think. Poor little guys.

Added a couple of plug-ins and so far so good.  The Social Spark code seems to hang a bit but unfortunately it’s still in Beta and bugs still need to be taken care of.

That’s about it for today. TTFN!

Extreme Makeover - Web Site Edition

Monday Jun 9, 2008

This has been a long overdue web site make over. With the old one lagging and farting from all the overly hacked coding, it was just to damn messy to clean up, so I’ve decided to just take an already made template, and hack it up to my liking.

So over the next few days, I’ll be implementing some CSS edits and template hacks to make this already nice template into MacBros’ Place’s new home.

As you can see, the load times are WAY better since a lot of the bad code is gone  out the window. As I add my own touch, we’ll see who was the bad code that was slowing the site down all along.

So this busy little beaver (I like beaver :P ) is going to be busy tinkering with a new theme layout. For today, I’ll be adding the tracking code in that is something that runs behind the scenes so you won’t see any changes at least in cosmetic scenes that is. (maybe, time permitting that is)

So as I tinker away, things might go haywire and explode on your desktop, so this is a bit of a disclaimer also.

“MacBros Place is not responsible for any loss of data or eyesight due to excess web browsing on this web site. MacBros Place does not promise God like miracles to cause unwanted features to suddenly disappear from your body, although any God like miracles are expected by MacBros Place, but the reality of the matter is, that ain’t gonna’ happen. Sorry.”

So if something goes wonkey while your here, it’s probably just me tinkering away behind the scenes. If you have any comments on what you’re seeing, please, by all means, pipe up and say something.

FYI: Since this was a free template download there was a base64 PHP code in the footer that I removed. For those who are not familiar with base64 PHP coding, I highly recommend you read this post because you may be getting spy ware on your visitors computers if you have this garbage in your free themes.

(PS: I was planning on uploading some weather video, but I got tied up in this instead. That post will be up later some time OK?)

Server Transfer

Wednesday May 7, 2008

The transfer of all my websites is actually currently underway. The complete transfer of all my web sites will be completed at around 8am Thursday morning.

Posting should resume then hopefully.

The sites all will be loading faster than they have been in the past and there will also be no more down time.

I’m not switching hosts, because I have one of the most awesome plans right now, but I’m just having my web sites transferred to a better server.

Site Downtime Update

Sunday May 4, 2008

This is just another update to the update that updated the original Downtime post.

Just so you know, that I know, that you know that this site has been running a tad lot slower than norm over the past few weeks I just wanna’ say that I too know. You know?

So after a few chat support conversations, (Who by the way are super! Never before have I experienced 110% customer support like THC provides.) they have come to the conclusion that with so many clients with my particular Plan For Life plan, there have been an enormous amount of SQL calls. That basically meant that the server would puke and end up not being able to recover. That’s what happened the other day at around 12am (My time) and lasted for about 7 hours or so.

So, with only the customers request, will they move them to another, more stable and faster, server. Mainly because of the down time this will cause due to the transferring of files and databases. They don’t want to move people when either they aren’t having issues or don’t want any downtime. (So I’m thinking anyway, but I could be wrong)

So, as it turns out, that what I thought would take place this weekend is actually going to take place on Wednesday.

I’ve been told that after the transfer has been completed, these sites will be better, faster, stronger, and more stable than any other man has ever been server.

So I have accepted the downtime side effects, just so it all end up better in the long run.

Wouldn’t you do the same?

BTW, THC is still rated the best by far for hosting. Don’t let my little bungle up detour you from an awesome service. AS you can see, the support staff is great to work with and they get the job done. There’s no beating around the bush like other hosts do by trying to point the finger at their customers, and not really taking the time to resolve the issues.

Two Thumbs Up THC!

Web Cam Is Now Working

Wednesday Apr 2, 2008

For those who have been wondering why the web cams have been turned off lately and the Buddy and Brain cam is never running, that’s because when I got my new router for networking both my PC and PS3 together my old capture software wouldn’t work with it.

Well I got some new software and it all up and running again. So you voyuers can get your kicks at whatever you might catch again.

I actually updated all the cams because I noticed a few feeds from the city cams were changed. I also added an extra one that is linked to Justin.tv for when I want to share anything that needs audio, like playing Rock Band on the PS3.

Well that’s it. I’ve wasted enough time and never got anything important completed today. I have to get ready for wok now.
