Clicky Web Analytics Review

Tuesday Mar 27, 2007

I’ve tried all sorts of Web Analytic sites and have to say a lot of them were impressive and had a lot of information, but a lot of the information was a bit over the top and was nothing but a bunch of goobally gop to me.

I’m not a huge corporate site, so a lot of the information that you get with sites like Google Analytics can scare the average web site owner or blogger away.

When I stumbled upon Clicky it was then I had found what I really needed.

Get Clicky Logo

Clicky has all the information you need! Clicky gives you unprecedented detail on every visitor to your blog or web site, and basically lets you get to know your visitors.

The detailed stats are easy to understand and give you the information you need as far as knowing who’s coming to your site, how long they stay, what pages they enter or exit, and where did they come from.

Get Clicky Screen Shot

The layout of the system couldn’t be easier to use. It’s really simple to find what you need with the ease of a click. Sometimes without even clicking at all, but instead with just the ease of moving your mouse cursor over a hotspot that’ll display the info you want.

Get Clicky Nav Bar

One of my favorite features of the service, besides the fact that it’s FREE, is the Spy stats.

Get Clicky Spy Screen

The spy stats are actual real time stats of your site. So when somebody enters your site it will show on the page in real time who the visitor is, where they were referred from, and more.

Set up is easy peasy also! All you need to do is add a snippet of hidden code into your Theme code. In my case they suggested you place the code into your sidebar.php file since it’s displayed on every page, but some sidebars have that front page only tag so I just dropped the code into my footer.php which is on every page generated.

They have instructions on all the other clients that bloggers may be using.

So as far as Web Analytics go, I have to give this one a big fat thumbs up. I’m using it like crazy, it’s actually almost addictive in a way as you watch the stats live.

Seeing as I’m trying to get my PR back, Clicky is helping me with the Public Ranking so I can see what is popular and what’s not, so that way I can focus more on the popular stuff.

Digg went crazy on my Battlestar Galactica post, and I wouldn’t have known that if I wasn’t using Clicky as the Spy feature was going crazy the day I posted it on Digg.

Even though this is just my opinion, and that you’re entitled to it. I can seriously recommend that you get Clicky for your site as far as monitoring your site information. You will like what you see. So just trust me.

But like I said, “This is just my opinion, and you’re entitled to it.”

While over at Untwisted Vortex (RT’s), he mentioned a site that he found whilst at MACBRO’S PLACE , he explains it much better than me so follow the link back to Macbro’s place. [IMG] Up and Coming! Right on Butch
They have Blogger help listed as far as placing the code also. Just so you know or have trouble knowing how to add it.

So, no sidebar, as I have 4 different ones. No sub footer, as I have 3 different ones. Footer, it is. So, the “Spy” feature is cool. It makes what is available through cPanel’s stats page a bit closer to real time. That’s the only draw for me, though, unless its got more search info than awSats has.

Just place the code in the file that is displayed on every page. That’s the only way it can track your pages.

It’s a kewel service. I’ve already gave Google Analytics the boot.

Kai Kai:

That definitely looks like a cool way to monitor traffic. (I was here via Claire’s earlier today while I was working, and checked it out. :-) I use sitemeter, because it was, well..free. And I didn’t know of any other options.

You will get dugg just as soon as I can remember my damn password!

Thanks for the tip!
