Did Adding The Google Toolbar Raise My PR?
Posted by MacBros | Under Site Update | - 197 Peepers read this post. Saturday Apr 28, 2007I’ve been reading up on how Google’s PR is calculated and noted that folks that use the Google Toolbar on their FireFox Browser and bookmark your site with it, that it helps your PR.

Just out of curiosity I decided to install the Google Toolbar into my FireFox Browser. When I did, I just though I would go check my PR and Woooopie! I’m at a PR 5 now!

Coincidence?
I went from a big fat Zero just the other day to a PR 5 today. I should have checked before I installed the plug-in then I would be certain that the toolbar helped.
So my opinion, and you’re entitled to it, is that you get the toolbar. Just follow the link below.

I think it was the toolbar. I checked your site and it was 0. I was surprised that you did not have any ranking. Great now you can get the big reviews. Sweet!
Opal, Just as soon as PPP gets my site updated. It hasn’t updated for over a week.
I even did the Log out and then back in trick, but it didn’t work. I sent a Support ticket to them.
I should add that after I installed the tool bar, I bookmarked my site with it, so that would explain HOW it helped my PR. Just having the tool bar won’t help, your PR gets better if people bookmark your site with it.
Use this page:
You’ll find that you’re showing PR5 on some servers and PR0 on others. Google has a lot of servers that check PR and some are not updated yet, IMO
I’m using Googles PR Checker, which also is included in the tool bar.
The tool bar wouldn’t raise it, it is not like alexa where checking your stats via a toolbar will raise the ranking. Page Rank is a calculation based on many factors, but how many people use the toolbar and visit your site definitely isn’t one of them.
How many people who use the toolbar and bookmark your site through the toolbar makes a difference, though.
I still think that making an accessible page with good, useful, topical content will raise you faster than anything.
Right Corey, like I mentioned in my comment above. It wouldn’t have changed unless I bookmarked my site with it first. Simply having the Toolbar wouldn’t do anything.
And your PR is improved by how many people bookmark your site with it BTW.
