DOFOLLOW Link Love List!

Like the ‘U Comment – I Follow‘ was all about. This post is pretty much about the whole DOFollow movement. What good is a blogging communit, if we don’t pass along a little link love amongst ourselves?

So thanks to Manila Mom, I’ve snatched her list to add to mine in order to keep it growing.

This while topic is based on removing that stupid tag with the nofollow property. Why does getting rid of that tag a good thing? Because it doesn’t work! It’s purpose was to denture spam comments from getting free linkage from your site. Just take a look at your Akismet or whatever spam filter you use, and look at the amount of caught spam. So do you think the ‘nofollow’ tag is working? The only thing this does is stop you from showing a little link love to the real commenters on your site.

If you want to be able to share a little link love with your readers and commenters, then follow the following instructions on how to get started. And when you’re done add my link to the following link list and let me know by commenting here and I’ll add you to this one also.

How is this done?

Follow Andy Beard’s instructions on how to remove the NoFollow for comments from the html of your blog template. He has instructions for Wordpress and other formats, as well as blogspot. There are plug-ins you can search for, too.

Once your comments are DoFollow, you can host the DoFollow List on your site.

These are the instructions:

(Start copying here.)

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.

2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!

My Adds:

Vegan Momma
Dragon Lady
Corey Thompson
MacBro’s Reviews
Macs Opinion

I tag YOU – the first five visitors who have DoFollow on your blog and who leave a comment here with your link.

If you still don’t have DoFollow and wish to do so, hurry home and fix your blog so you can come back and be among the first five.

Originals:

MacBros` Place
Manilenya
Female-Gamer
Manila Mom
3 Dogs, 3 Pigs and A Family

    You know, that reminds me. You and Opal tagged me for several things over the past 3 or 4 weeks and I haven’t done a single one. LOL. That’s so unlike me too because you know I never pass up a link-whoring opportunity. 8-}

DL, I believe this one is an important one to pass along. Especially with the real Link Whoring opportunity it offers using the DOFOLLOW Plugin.

I use this one and I think it’s the best.

The only problem that may happen in the future here is that the SE’s might begin to catch on to people trying to game the system with dofollows. BTW, what is the plugin for your wysiwyg editor?

Ryan Ward, but that still won’t stop these paid commenters to post comments on peoples sites and then drop a URL to a business site. (Which I immediately remove. No links to businesses unless there cash in my pocket first.)

I generally don’t post anyone’s comments that don’t have at least a little something to offer to the converation, paid or not dofollow or nofollow. The blogging community is very large and I see quite a few people beginning to use dofollow just for the link back. That is defined as “gaming the system” and has gotten websites penalized and removed from the index. Comments are good when they offer something, but, commenting to comment and for nothing more than links, paid or otherwise may soon begin to get bloggers in trouble with the search engines.

For the record, I have three dofollow blogs, myself and believe that good commenting should be encouraged…

Great list! I myself have only recently installed the dofollow plugin on my own personal blog and I’m lovin’ it! It’s great to be part of the dofollow movement. ;)

It’s also ironic that company sites try and take advantage of this movement and try to get a free link to their product or sales website. Hence the reason I changed yours.

Great list. We need more stuff like this. All my blogs have dofollow links, i just feel you need to reward posters who comment. I mean they don’t have to comment yet they do it out of dedication. I think its the only right thing to do.

Unfortunately it’s being taken advantage of by sploggers and Adsence pages.

And BTW, how do you expect bloggers to comment on your site when there not an option, so what are you talking about.

I’ll take that link away now.
