Firefox Going Wonkey!

Firefox

Ever since the latest upgrade/update of Firefox, my browser has been freezing and crashing.

It’s actually getting quite annoying really. Especially when your in the middle of writing something and it just stops.

It seems that it will still run in the background sometimes when you ‘X’ it closed. So I will sometimes have to go into the Task Manager to shut it down.

Just before I uninstall it and  download it again, I just want to ask, “Has anybody else experienced some strange Firefox behavior?”

The last few FF versions have been quirky for me on my main Windows machine but seem to work fine on my Mac machine.

If you haven’t already thought along these lines, here’s a few ideas.

BTW, are you using version 2.0.0.7? You might try disabling all your Firefox add-ons and see if you experience the same problem. Could be a memory leak with one of the extensions (try installing the Leak Monitor add-on). Find the trouble plugin and disable until the developer updates.

I wouldn’t know about the Windows issue Mac because since I got my MAC I don’t jack with Windows unless I have to on one of the other machines but FF HAS been giving me trouble on here freezing etc. like you say so I just use Opera. LOL :d

I think when it comes to the Avatar and when you change E-Mail you need to create a new account. The plugin is old and I don’t think it sees the changed e-mail, but I did some thing for you Diane. Check your e-mail.

I haven’t had any problems. I mainly use my Macbook Pro but I have not had any problems on the HP either.

I also have problems but I’m not sure if its firefox or my old computer I’m using. Sometimes I think its both. Actually sometimes pages do not load at all and then I think the website is down but then if I press refresh it works – very weired

Hm, maybe someone of you knows. I use openoffice portable and my firefox is quite slow. So is it slow because I use the portable edition from an usb stick or is it something else?

See even submitting this comment took ages. Hm, maybe I can google the problem. If I find an answer i will post it here. ;)

Even though I love FF thru and thru, like others that have commented on here, that last couple of versions have been acting a bit weird on me too. (Like the whole running in the background thing eating my memory etc).

So it seems that I’m not the only one who’s experienced this. Maybe somebody should write an e-mail telling them that their slacking off a bit too much.

But still have to say, I’ll never go back to the MS Exploder with it’s Active-Hex feature.

FF seems fine for me. It’s my outpost firewall that usually crashes my machine, not the FF.

theenglishguy, LOL when I read this comment, FF crashed. How ironic.

I think I’ll be reinstalling the thing.

Firefox is getting buggier the bigger it gets. I’m thinking about going straight to Opera and staying there.
