Happy Labour Day
Monday, September 1, 2008 16:37 | 214 viewsToday I’m basically just laying around flipping through TV Stations. There’s never anything good on TV During the day either. No good movies to watch. Talk about a boring day! I would go out for a walk, but I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do even that.
I took a stroll over to the FREX (Carnival) just to be told that it’s going to cost me $7 to go through the gate just to walk around. Screw that! So I went around back of the racetrack and went through the stables and slipped through the draft horses exhibit and then through the exhibits inside the ice rink building and then proceeded to let myself out onto the midway grounds. So I walked around for free in the end.
I took some video. And not to my surprise, it was just as shitty as it was last year. And can you believe this… they didn’t have the bumper cars!!?? What’s a carnival without bumper cars?? It also seems like the rides are getting smaller and smaller too.
I can remember a time when going to the FREX was actually fun. It was always crowded and there was always something new as far as rides went, every year. It now seems that most of the rides have had a name change and a reduction in size.
I’m just glad I didn’t fork out the $7 for the short time I spent there. I feel sorry for the folks that go there with their large families. They’ll need to drop an arm and a leg just to get past the gates. I would hate to think what they would spend to go on the rides and play the games.
I have to admit, that the only thing I was entertained by was the petting zoo.
I’m all rested up now, thanks to the Labour day long weekend. I never had the chance to have holidays off when I worked at the other job. I am so thankful to have landed this job that I’m doing now. To enjoy the holidays and weekends off all the time really lets you have the chance to rest up.
Happy Labour Day Everybody, and Happy Labor Day to you guys south of the border.

I’ve not ever attended the FREX. I went to every exhibition back home, which was 3x the size, until I was in my mid teens. I think working there for a summer job spoiled the fun a bit. Of course, the work during Exhibition Weeks was pretty slack for the grounds crew, as we didn’t do much except collect the garbage in the morning and mend the odd hole in a barn wall or pen if a horse kicked through. All of our hard work had already been done by that point. Of course, two of use got “drafted” to help load the 200 lb weights on the sled for the ox and horse pulls. Come to think of it, besides being covered in mud at the end of the night, it was kinda fun to have ringside seats to the truck/tractor pulls and the 4 wheeler stunt track.

Lol, at 5 seconds left it looked like an emo bunny XD.
I went on the thriller (called UFO down here) ride once before, kinda felt weird but it wasn’t really a ride :\ maybe if we could see outside it would be a ride.

@ChrisTheFeral – It’s called “The Gravitron”, Thriller is something new they added. Probably for legal reasons. But the ride you would want then, is the Teenage Round up. It’s like that one but it’s open. Come to think of it, it’s probably one of the best rides I’ve been on, but it goes upright and spins on its side.
@MrCorey – It’s actually pretty pathetic. If you noticed the rides only had less than half of their lights working making them look very un-appealing.

Happy day after Labour Day! Note I even spelled it like you folks who didn’t rewrite English spelling rules.
I had no motivation either yesterday. I only managed to get laundry done because I knew I wouldn’t do it tonight.

@DragonLady – HA! I did laundry yesterday also.
There we go again! In that same brainwave length.
