Happy New Brunswick Day!
Monday, August 4, 2008 0:01 | 264 viewsNew Brunswick (French: Nouveau-Brunswick) is one of Canada’s three Maritime provinces and is the only constitutionally bilingual province (French and English) in the federation. The provincial capital is Fredericton. Statistics Canada estimates the provincial population in 2008 to be 751,527; a majority are English-speaking, but there is also a large Francophone minority (32%), chiefly of Acadian origin.
The province’s name comes from the English translation for the city of Braunschweig in north Germany, the ancestral home of the Hanoverian King George III of the United Kingdom.
Not only is it New Brunswick’s Birthday, it is also CFB Gagetown’s 50th Anniversary! They are celibrating at the old government house and will be providing fireworks for the events too. Plus there will be Free Ice Cream and Lemonaid!
Hopefully the weather lets up enough so I can take a walk over and take some video. Maybe get some tanks and stuff on video.

Thanks John. I did not know the history behind the name of the province. I was hoping to get down to the festivities as well. Though the weather forecast is predicating rain all day. Right now I am trying to book passage on an arc for myself and 2 cats.

@Edna – Holy Heck Ey’!!!
I’m thinking I’ll have to build an arc also with all this damn rain we’ve been getting!
And it’s outlook is saying that it’s going to continue all week.
Pisses me off that it’ll probably be a wash out today at the Government House.

I was looking forward to the free ice cream and lemonade. And looking at all the nice scenery dressed in their uniforms standing beside the tanks….lol…..

@Edna – I’ve got FOX Radio playing on the TV (Radio on TV?? Wow! Ain’t technology neat?
) to see what they are saying about the events.
I agree. The ladies in their tight uniforms are nice eye candy.

Oooo!
I see blue patches of sky!
I might just take a walk over here in a few minutes.

Yes, I could see you wanting to look at the women… me I am all about the men…lol
August 4th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
@Edna – I just came back. There’s nothing special going on. Just the army showing off a few toys and playing loud music (Good Music Though. FOX FM is there).
I’m guessing that because of the rain, a lot of events are a wash out.
I took pics and video. Posting them in a few.

Well was the scenery any good….lol. Did you get your free ice cream? I want this rain to stop for at least 2 hours so I can get out for a run.
August 4th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
@Edna – There were a couple of hotties, but I think you would have had more eye candy than I did.
No Ice Cream, I didn’t bother. It’s to damn miserable out.
I’m posting what I got at the moment.

Happy New Brunswick Day!

@DragonLady – Thanks! It’s been an un-eventful day due to the shitty weather. I did my drinking last night. Wasn’t a binging thing, just a moderately slow drinking night. Played Lego Indiana Jones.

No Rock Band?
August 4th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
@DragonLady – No, I played the shit of that Friday and Saturday.
