Head in the Bush

I was going to say, head in the ground, but the latter is more eye catching. :p

I’ve been away from the PC for the past 3 day because my nephew has taken it over. While he was on here playing internet games, I was playing PS2 Games.

I would go into detail, but the Nephew wants back on the PC to play. So I’ll make this quick.

I played Arthur & The Invisibles (Playstation 2) and finished it. I was impressed at the graphical world. Lots of detail and it didn’t even slow the game down at all.

The game was a lot of fun, but it got really hard near the end. It had me going nuts trying to make it through the insane levels. So insane, I didn’t want to give up, and the persistence prevailed, and I kicked the games ass.

That’s all I can say about the game.

There’s another thing that’s got me a bit confused.

WTF is up with the US screwing around with the time?

I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes, but why try and fix something if it ain’t broke?

Americans turn their clocks forward three weeks early this year, raising the specter of glitches for global business, travel and other functions in a scenario raising comparisons to the “Y2K” bug.

Daylight savings time begins the night of March 11-12 for the first time, instead of the first weekend of April, as has been customary.

I’ve heard about this being on the table to consider, but thought it was put to bed because it would just screw up… well the world. I though they decided against this idea knowing how fucked up everything is going to be if the went forward with it.

Like the title of this post suggests, my head has been in the ground/bush. I haven’t been following this story, and the link I have been reading doesn’t really go into great detail. But what I want to know is, is it just the Americans that are going to be doing this, or are there other Countries following their lead? Heck, I don’t even know if my own Country is planning on this major time shift. LOL (Pathetic, I know.)

Thankfully I’m not a Businessman, and a frequent traveler, because this would just suck balls if I were. Just by the remarks in the article, It’s going to effect everybody in a small way if it’s just going to be the US that makes this time shift.

Or maybe I have the whole thing Bass Ackwards, and everybody’s making the time shift, and the hype is because the digital world is still programmed to switch to Daylight Savings on the first week of April. Maybe somebody will comment here and clear it up for me, and anybody else that’s confused about it.

Ungh, my head hurts now. I’m going to go watch TV. I’m also getting the pouting sound behind me because I’m holding up somebody’s game, so I better wrap this up. :p

The whole things is driven by business and energy needs. The time change allows for less use of energy overall. Its not about us. Its about money.

Yeah, what Corey said. Which reminds me, I support a site that is not using GMT meaning they need the DST patch. Crap. Crap. Crap. Guess I need to make a phone call now. :-w

I knew about the energy thing Corey. But three weeks earlier isn’t going to make a big impact IMO.

Is it just the Americans that’s going to time shift early, or is it global. The news article reads like it’s just going to be the US that changes three weeks early.

DL, that would suck if your site has a few dozen servers ey’?

Heck, yeah, that would suck. I’m glad all of our local servers are set to GMT. Granted, loading patches is relatively simple, but this one requires a reboot. That would suck since I have an ongoing contest with one of my buddies over who can keep servers up the longest. I’m in the lead right now thanks to a power outage at his site. :-b

Hi guys, I can tell you that it isn’t happening in Australia and I can also tell you that it happened here years ago and had virtually no impact at all. I mean yeah you have to change your puties etc. instead of it happening automatically a few weeks later, but it really doesn’t have any JOLTING impact at all.

Hope this helps a little. All the best from downunder!!

You know, after reading Sibergirl’s comment, I got to thinking about it, and it’s not going to make a damned bit of difference if that site doesn’t have that patch. It doesn’t make one bit of damn difference if that server’s time changes at all. In fact, I’m going to suggest they change the time to GMT where daylight savings time has no impact. [-(

    LOL
