Everybody's Entitled To My Opinion
RSS Feed

I’m a FART!

Monday Mar 12, 2007

This is another follow up from the previous post.

Can you imagine, now, this person actually thinks that a syndicated feed is free for the taking? He honestly believes that since a blog has an RSS feed that content in that feed is free to copy and splog it for Adsence Content.

Here’s a funny quote from their latest attempt at Wordpres Installation #5:

Well! it so happened that about three days ago, I tested out an autoblogging software – intrigued by how something can be done automatically. The software was free and perhaps I will write more articles on the software it self, but for today, I just want to take a different stance about splogging.

The software worked like a dream – it posted hundreds of articles that took me years to write before and my blogs almost doubled in 3 days. The content were from syndicated content, but some fart out there thought that I was stealing.

LOL. I think I’ve started a pissing game here. :p

He continued with,

I certainly was not for his content was synidcated and it was therefore an invitation for me to use them. the fart advised that there was a digital fingerprint which stated [No Commercial Use permitted], which I fail to believe else it could not have been used.

If anybody reads my site through a news reader, they’ll vouch that there is indeed a line that states that there is not to be any commercial use with my content. How the hell did I find out it was stolen in the first place. That’s what the Digital Fingerprint Does! LOL.

But that’s not all. When I first saw that my content was being used for their Ad Content, I saw that the bottom half of my AntiLeech was snipped off. Unbelievable!

There was a nice website that had a very excellent explanation on the use of RSS feeds but I can’t find it.

Oh here here and here it is! Well actually here they are. But one of my favorite pages is this one by Lorelle, it has everything you need to know.
You know, normally I wouldn’t give a splogger the light of day, but I think I’ll make an exception to this one. I know it’s just going to end up indexing the site and all, but I need you to see this(link removed). I’m not making this stuff up. :))

I made a comment there, but I think it’s been moderated. I also Archived the page so if they remove it, there will still be proof of the stupidity.

But here’s my comment on their site:

What a pathetic bunch of tripe!
Syndication is NOT free for the taking. I would hate to see CNN find their feed on your site. They won’t be so lenient.
You need to ask permission to post another authors work period, there are no if ands or buts.
And you might want to look into the digital fingerprint and how it works. http://www.maxpower.ca/digital-fingerprint-updated/2006/10/04/

Chances are you will moderate this comment so I’m wasting my time.

The software worked like a dream – it posted hundreds of articles that took me years to write before and my blogs almost doubled in 3 days.

Years of other peoples work in 3 days. That’s still theft.
I believe you might deserve a visit from the DMCA, Maybe they would be better suited to explain to you how the Digital copyright works.

I think I’m through with this pissing game.

There will be a DMCA request next time.

*sigh* to funny. As requested by Dragon Lady

It is pretty pathetic, as much as I like to give people second chances, this fellow has really made me POed.

Even worse, Syracuse didn’t make the NCAA, so the last 24 hours have sucked :(

CNN has been notified about this guy. They may be letting him/her know that the RSS feeds that they have are NOT free for publishing.

You should see the tripe the whiner is going on about. It’s actually quite funny.

I was going to say something about feed aggregators but I forgot what it was after reading the rant. Oh, wait… nope, still not there.

Oh well, it’s too bad that a very, very busy site doesn’t automatically link to the images on splogger sites (without actually displaying them but still downloading them) so that every visit would be the equivalent of a distributed denial of service attack that would leave the sploggers with no bandwidth.

It would only take one site… (like Google’s main page).

Oooohhhh! RT, that’s an awesome idea.

Would the image still load if it’s between the comment out tages?

But then if they have hotlinking disabled it would be pointless. #-o

March 14th, 2007 |

Disabling hotlinking is a double-edged sword. Sites that scrape wouldn’t use their stuff if they couldn’t link to the images, so they more than likely would not have it disabled. And yes, the image would still load, no matter what tags it was between. I could do it and then use CSS display:none so it would not appear on the blog. But I can’t do it right now — too busy.

March 14th, 2007 |

Hotlinking is when somebody uses my images, if I disable it, my images would not show up on the other persons page.

Them disabling theirs would prevent me from hotlinking to their images. They can still scrap whether they have hotlinking turned on or off.
Just that if I have hotlinking disabled my images would not show in their site.

Need another coffee RT?

Must be pretty early in the morning there for you where you are ey’? 2:04pm here.

Shoot! I should install my flash clock and flash weather into the sidebar.

It’s 1:10 am here and I will be refilling the cup pretty soon.

I think you misunderstood. The sploggers want THEIR sites scraped as well as them scraping yours. That’s how they get THEIR traffic.
