I’m Not A Cow?

Last night a started to fall asleep standing up. No, not because I thought I was being like a cow sleeping while standing up, but because I didn’t get any sleep at all since the day before at 7PM. So I was up for over 32 hours.
When I got home Thursday morning at 3am I decided that I would go to bed a little later because there were some things I needed to get at the supermarket. I wanted to pick up some eggs and bathroom items for when I got up later that day.
Well when it came time to actually go to sleep at around 9:30am or so, a few of the building workers decided it was time to start up their jack-hammer and start hammering away at the concrete floor outside in the hallways to do some repairs on the heating system.
It would have been nice if they sent out a memo letting us know about it, because then I would have went to bed straight away instead of waiting to go to the supermarket.
I ended up turning on the TV and watching a few movies, and had the volume cranked because the jack-hammer was so loud.
This went on until 7pm or so and then they decided it was time to all gather in front of my door and talk about the the job they have just started.
FUCK! By this time I said to myself, there’s no point in going to bed now, since it’s almost time to get ready for work again! No point in going to sleep for just an hour and trying to wake back up again.
So I shaved and took a shower, put on a pot of coffee, had a bite to eat and got ready for work.
It was about 2:30am that I caught myself dozing off while standing at the line, and it concerned me that it might be a good time to just go home to sleep, before I fell and cracked my head open, or ended up going head first into the deep fryer.
I have came to the conclusion, that this building isn’t the best place to live when you work the graveyard shift. Ya’ Think!

Yikes! I feel asleep standing up one time in basic training. I woke up just as I was starting to tip over. LOL.

Dragon Lady, I remember a time way back when I was a cadet and we were on parade at attention for about 15 minutes on a really hot summer afternoon. There was this girl standing beside me and she passed out and embedded her front teeth into the parade floor. The mark in the floor from her teeth stayed there for years.
I guess nobody told her the trick about wiggling your toes and bending your knees a little but not to much to show in the pant leg huh?

LOL, guess not. I watched a chick in Tech School pass out head first right in front of me on day in formation. I had to kneel down once in a formation in August in Oklahoma before I passed out. When I stood back up someone grabbed me by the shoulders and pulled me out of the formation and sat me down in the shade. I was pregnant though.
Ah, the memories. Makes me all the happier to be a civilian again and not have to do that crap.
