Migraines – Baaaaaaaaaaad!
Monday, September 15, 2008 16:39 | 214 viewsIt hurt like hell too. the worst head ache I have ever had, at least until this morning.
Around 2am I woke up with pain shooting down the back of my head down my neck, and my temples felt like they were in a vice. No matter how much cradling in my arms I did or packing the pillows around my head I did, it was futile.
I would drift in and out of sleep because I was awaken by the pain and then fall asleep from exhaustion and wake up again, and so on. A vicious cycle went on until it was time to get up for work.
There was no way I could go in to work in this condition. I even had to turn off my computer because the fan, although not a loud one, was actually too loud. The windows were blacked out because it was still dark outside, thankfully. But that was short lived later in the day, so I wrapped myself in blankets and pillows.
If that wasn’t enough, the grounds people decided it was a good time to mow the lawn. Mow by my window OVER AND OVER AND OVER again! Either they knew I was in major pain from the migraine, or the blade on that mower was so dull, they had to make multiple passes.
So here it is now just after 4pm, the headache is finally gone, I lost a days pay and now I’m in a pissy mood for it.
Must be the weather huh?
How was your day?

You ever tried that stuff you just apply to your forehead? It’s just like a stick of something and you run it over your forehead and voila, headache gone.

@theenglishguy – This wasn’t just the forehead, I would have to smear it all over my head in that case.
I can’t see something like that actually working anyway. How is it supposed to block the pain receptors in your brain?

HeadOn. OMG, remember when Mel used that and got it on her eye? I know that shouldn’t be funny, but I’ve passed by HeadOn in a store and just bust out laughing over Mel’s droopy eye.
Hope you’re feeling better. It took me a couple of days to get right after my migraine last week. I came home with a headache today but I think I was just too cold at work.

I sure do have empathy for you. I have had them so bad that I had to go to outpatient at the hospital to be put on a drip. I had gone to Shoppers Durg Store first and they took one look at me and told me to go to the hospital. It was barely a 5 minute walk but I had to take a cab because I was about to pass out from the pain. So I know what you were experiencing.

Have friends who suffer from migraines but knock on my wooden head, it’s one thing I don’t get. I think I heard somewhere that standing or sitting in one location can bring on migraines — something to do with blood flow up the spinal column to the brain – one friend takes some kind of prescription pill that literally knocks her out for two days. I guess that’s one way to manage the pain. Hope you’re feeling better real quick.

@Edna – I was thinking about going to the hospital too.
@Larry – I could have used that drug, whatever it was.

@teeni – Yea. Not very enjoyable to say the least.

I knew this chap in Atlanta who’d had them for years, eventually was put on such a high powered narcotic to combat them he needed a special license from the govt. Hope they’re not that bad tho Mac

@theenglishguy – I don’t normally get them a lot, but it seems lately I have. probably stress related. But when I do have them, they hurt like a mutha’ fu@*er.

haha block pain receptors in your brain? Wow i feel dumb for even reading that.
The brain itself can’t feel pain there genius. the pain receptors are outside the brain and send the signal back to the brain that something hurts.
You would think someone with chronic migraines would know that stuff, and have a prescription to help.

@Uhh Yeah – Yea, yea, yea. That should have been to your brain , not in your brain. I didn’t think it would matter and people would understand what I was saying. But Noooooo. There had to be a Mr. Smarty Pants to point out the obvious.
