OK. Last night I got word that I didn’t get the job position I applied for at work. Yes, this is something I’ve been keeping under wraps as I will be pretty much all the time regarding work. But there were a lot of questions and people suggesting things that although made sense, but weren’t relevant to the situation.
First off, I want to make it clear that I’m not upset about not getting the job position. Well, yea. I sorta am really, but that’s not what has me pissed off. What is pissing me off is that (rumored) somebody that everybody agrees to that SHOULDN’T be getting the position, may be very well getting it.
Another thing is that I was told that the main qualities of the position were, listening skills, and a positive attitude. Well… this is what gets me. If they believe listening skills are essential, they are hypocrites, because they obviously haven’t been listening to this individuals calls. This person has got to be the rudest person to customers I’ve heard. And as far as a positive attitude goes, that’s definitely not a quality this person has either. For example, I would say, “Good morning ******! Hows it going?” ****** would respond with a sigh, “*SIGH* Just wanna get through this day and get the hell outta this hole.”
So as you can see how I would be pissed at somebody like this getting the job over me when they told me the things they are looking for are the complete opposite of what this person has. Plus the fact that this person has their nose so far up their asses and puts on a show for management, plus is all chummy with one of the senior employees there.
Knowing that this person got the job over me purely on favoritism really pisses me off. There’s no way they can deny it was on favoritism, because there are no real qualities possessed by this person that one would need for this particular job role.
Now this is all just a general assumption by all that work there and who knows, maybe we’re all wrong and they won’t get the job. Which would be great! I would rather see one of the other candidates get it over this person, that’s for sure. But the fact that they have been all cloak and dagger lately makes it look like they have the job and they already know they do. It’s all in the body language.
The best reason why they shouldn’t get it, is that they QUIT! Yes! that’s right! They quit and came crawling back.
Anyway. There will be a few people taking up a lot of the Site Managers time because they said they will be voicing their opinion on the hiring of this person because it defies the companies whole motto and business statement on fairness and equality.
I hope we’re all wrong.
Of course they told me that it was a close decision (I get that same reason all the time, so it’s hard to believe) and I was also told that they have future plans for me and that is why they would rather have me not in that particular role as they’ll be needing me elsewhere. Plus I was told that in the next month I’ll be getting more money for the job they’ll have me doing. I liked what I heard, now I just hope they follow through with it and hopefully this whole paranoia is put to bed and the right people get the jobs they deserve and not some person just based on favoritism.
There. I’m finished with the soap box. It’s all yours now.
