Over the Hedge is over the top! The cast of voices for the characters, had the characters almost look and act like themselves. Or was that the other way around? Ok, I just confused myself. Heh..There are some well known actors that did these voice over’s.

Bruce Willis as RV who will do anything to save his hide, even at the expense of others.

Garry Shandling who plays Verne the Turtle who is neurotic and insecure leader who will also protect his family at all costs. And Vernes family also consists of some even more popular voices.

Wanda Sykes who does the voice of Stella the Skunk, you may remember her as one of Drew Carey’s dates from the Drew Carey show, Stella is a skunk that too hard on herself, but tolerates no fools.

I couldn’t think of anybody better to play Hammy the Squirrel other than Steve Carell. Hammy’s childlike innocence comes with a full dose of childlike hyperactivity. My personal favorite character.

Then we have that little hottie Avril Lavigne doing the voice for Heather the Teenage Opossum. What teenage daughter wouldn’t’ be ashamed of their father, especially when it’s ….

William Shatner playing Ozzie, Heathers Dad who thinks the best tactic when in danger it to fake dead. They even animated Ozzie to mimic William Shatner’s body movements like he did in Star Trek, which was funny in itself.

There are a lot more actors that did voice over’s also, but this is a movie review, not an actors portfolio.

Traveling raccoon con artist, RJ (Willis), arrives in a woods outside a human city in the Midwest, excited about the wonders that living near humans can bring hungry animals. What he finds, however, is an Amish-like community that is deathly afraid of humans, after their leader, Verne the tortoise (Shandling), has an encounter with human boys that terrifies him. Encouraged by RJ, however, the animals slowly venture over the hedge that separates them from the brand new suburban development that appeared over the winter while they were sleeping, and what RJ shows them is a whole new world where humans leave tin cans full of fish and other food in big canisters, ripe for the taking. As they get closer and closer to humans, however, their comfortable lives in the woods appears to be threatened…

This movie was a hoot to watch and I enjoyed it very much as I bet you would too if you went to see it. I bet that I’ll even rent out the DVD when it comes available because I can imagine the behind the scene section on it will be just as funny.

I highly recommend that you take the whole family out to see this one, or go with a friend. I promise you, you’ll be glad you did. This is one of the better computer animated movies I’ve seen in a long wile.
