Server Transfer

The transfer of all my websites is actually currently underway. The complete transfer of all my web sites will be completed at around 8am Thursday morning.

Posting should resume then hopefully.

The sites all will be loading faster than they have been in the past and there will also be no more down time.

I’m not switching hosts, because I have one of the most awesome plans right now, but I’m just having my web sites transferred to a better server.

I just timed the loading and it’s worsened I think, I got exactly 27 seconds for one freaking page. 15 seconds on the others.

BTW, Hostmosnter is now unlimited space, bandwidth and more. Plus, you site used to load in about 5 seconds with them. IMO Host monster is MUCH better.
I don’t care if the problem is because I am in Australia, it just means that THC isn’t that good and your site might miss out on a lot of other visitors.

    Anyway…

I get 6 seconds. When you timed it, you might have been slowed down by one of the third party apps.

    Watch the status bar.

It’s usually the Amazon.com or Izea app that stalls once in awhile.

No lol… my computer was running fine it is ONLY when I go to your site, I don’t know why, I can catch a video if you like – the header comes up at about 20 seconds in and then the rest starts to load.
The actual download speed is slow.
I went onto THC and tested their download file so I could know what speeds to expect and I got 160kbps (and your site seems to still load slower,) on hostmosnter they have a 8,000mps connection obviously shared but most of the time I am getting about 750kbps.

I dunno.. maybe I can host you for a few days just to test it out or something.. meh..

I really think that the slow speed is turning a lot of could be viewers away.. I am sure it’s not just my connection but I’ll try some friends connections with other ISPs when I can.

Dunno what to say, but I access this site from several different locations and it’s not slow for me. the only time I notice it being a bit laggy is when one of the 3rd party widgets hangs. Google, IZEA, Socialspark, or amazon usually hang for a bit slowing down the site.

I’m happy with THC, $95 one time charge for a lifetime hosting plan is awesome, and a host with 100Bbps output is better than anything I have ever had.

You stick with your Hozemonster… I’ll stick with THC.

really? 100mbps is better than your old 8,000mbps?
    WOW!

You stick with your Top wHore Center and I’ll stick with my HOSTMonster

How much do you earn from HostMonster, Chris? Seems like you’re defending HostMonster too much like you own 50% of their stocks.:-Wi

JRJII, I really can’t understand why he’s having so much of a hard time. I have others from the AU that visit here, and they say they don’t have Issues.

I really think there is a DHCP thing crapping out between him and the server.

It’s not him or THC, there is somebody between his connection and the server that is crapping out.

I remember about 5 years ago, my city had a problem because there was only ONE PIPE leading out of the city and it would crap out leaving both personal and Businesses out of luck. That was until the province was basically forced to expand. It ended up making my city the most technological City in the Country!

I think he’s experiencing the same thing, but is to proud to consider it.

Sorry, but that tracert thing I showed you Chris will actually show you who is dropping the ball.

I don’t have issues accessing this site here in the Philippines either. Sometimes it is slow, but for sure it is because I am on a network infrastructure running at 384 kbps shared by two computers, plus with heavy torrent downloads in the background. ;))

    May 12th, 2008 at 2:18 am

John, I’m not really defending hostmonster, im just saying THC should either investigate (imo – the average user won’t bother) or get a mirror in Aus.

Why would I own 50% of their stocks o.O

I think somewhere in the link between you and THC servers there’s some sort of bottleneck that prevents you from experiencing the maximum speed. I asked from friend from Perth, Australia, to access this site and he said it was fast.

NOTE – MY COMMENT WASN’T POSTED THE FIRST TIME ROUND, POSSIBLY DUE TO URL’S – HERE IT IS AGAIN WITHOUT URLS

Here is a chat convo I had with one of my interstate friends on a different ISP.

The friends username has been removed.

My username shall be referred to in the chat below as CHRIS, my friends name as FRIEND due to privacy reasons.

CHRIS: i just need to test the time it takes for you to load the website www[]acbrosplace[]com in full
FRIEND: ok, I have a plugin which provides statistics about the page you are loading on the status bar, one of those statistics is the total time to load the page, I just wanted to test it first to see if it includes images & other stuff and it does
    CHRIS: kewl
FRIEND: it’s only accurate to seconds though, not milliseconds
    CHRIS: n
    CHRIS: np
FRIEND: shall I click now then?
    CHRIS: yes please
FRIEND: mind you, I have a filtering plugin loaded so it will by default not load any flash or javascript-referenced objects, will that be a problem?
    CHRIS: yes
    CHRIS: nevermind
FRIEND: I can turn it off
FRIEND: what is this site you want me to load?
CHRIS: can you do that and clear your cache so it loads from scratch again? if you can
    FRIEND: I haven’t clicked yet
    CHRIS: oh
    CHRIS: ok
    CHRIS: yes, please turn off the flash and js {MEANING DEACTIVATE NoScript}
CHRIS: its my friends, he is saying i am the only person in aus that is having slow loading times
CHRIS: i just watn to check wiht somebody outside of victoria
FRIEND: ok I just don’t want to turn it off and get a bunch of malware installing
    CHRIS: there shouldnt be any
    CHRIS: its just a blog
    FRIEND: ok
    FRIEND: loading …
    CHRIS: how long so far?
    FRIEND: still loading
    CHRIS: haha
    FRIEND: done
    CHRIS: ok
    FRIEND: took 34 seconds
    CHRIS: EXACTLY
    FRIEND: ?
CHRIS: do you mind if I copy this convo?
    FRIEND: sure
FRIEND: I mean sure it’s ok
CHRIS: thanks, block your username or not?
CHRIS: I want to post it as a comment on his blog
    FRIEND: I don’t mind
    FRIEND: umm
FRIEND: yeah block my username if that’s ok
    CHRIS: k

FRIEND: just out of interest, I’ll clear my cache and load it again with my filtering activated
FRIEND: see what the time difference is
    CHRIS: k
FRIEND: this time it took only 13 secs
    FRIEND: quite a difference
FRIEND: (and yes I did clear my cache)
    CHRIS: kewl
CHRIS: well, that helps a lot
CHRIS: can i post that as well?
    FRIEND: cool
    FRIEND: sure
    CHRIS: ty

So clearly it isn’t just me and not only happening in my state or with my ISP only.
I am not doing this to prove you wrong, well… sorta, I gotta be honest – the reason is because half the time I give up on reading your blog and I like to read it and it annoys me when I can’t.

I also asked my friend whether the ISP he uses runs off the same lines owned by my ISP.

I’m connected to the Agile network – they have their own DSLAMS, so it’s as separate from telstra as you can get

So that means two different sets of lines both have the same slow speed on high speed connections.

So its not us or our isps, it might be a node in between but if THC set up a mirror we wouldn’t have to go through that node, necessarily.

    I am from Australia aswell.

This is quite a slow site to load. Usually around 15-20 seconds.

    So iunno.

  28. MacBros MacBros says:

    May 14th, 2008 at 10:39 am

That image also makes it look like nobody from Canada visited the site too, but the percentages still add up.

It seems like AU is experiencing a slow load, but only AU visitors. I don’t know what to say, but as far as the rest of the world goes, there aren’t any problems.

Page loads just under 6 seconds for me. Whatever the problem that lies between AU and The Host (Rat chewing on a wire maybe?) is not in the hands of either the Host nor the visitors.

Bottom line is that I have never had such an awesome hosting plan in the past 12 years of having web sites hosted. I don’t plan on dropping them because of a handful of visitors are experiencing a slow connection, which you will eventually get from ANY Hosting Company.

Hopefully your issues will change and whoever is dropping the ball between you and the host will fix their DHCP routing issues. But until then, there is nothing the host or I can do.
