Skeletons In The Closet

I am pretty confident that everybody has a couple of skeletons in their closets, maybe not a full closet for some people, or maybe there’s just a little bit of dust lying in there that even the biggest goodie-two-shoes can not deny.
I am not ashamed to say that I have had a couple in my past and present. I have had a drug problem, a cigarette problem, and I occasionally can over do it a bit with the drinking and still do. The drinking that is.
I had a problem with drugs when I was younger and later on got pretty bad when I started to experiment with the cocaine when a friend of mine introduced me to it one night when we were all drunk out of our minds and I so happen to be able to afford such a luxury drug. I have to say I liked it a lot because it made me feel on top of the world. Fortunately my friend and I got smart and realized how people could actually get addicted to this stuff because it made you feel so good, we both decided that we should stay away from it before we ended up selling stuff to buy more and getting trapped in something that most people can’t get away from.
I kicked the cigarette smoking habit with the help of the patch, which I am also proud of myself for doing. But some people aren’t so lucky to have the willpower to quit the drugs or alcohol problems and need help with drug and alcohol treatment. There are so many available services out there that want to help folks with their addiction I’m surprised that a lot of addicts do not use them. Maybe they just need that guidance from friends or family to point them in the right direction. So if you know a friend or have family that needs the help, help them find it, because that’s probably what they want you to do.

I wouldn’t really say they were addictions except the smoking, the other stuff was more of a habit. We stopped before it became an addiction.
