So Far So Good
Thursday, November 3, 2005 23:56 | 96 viewsWas talking to the Restaurant owner today to ask him how he likes the layout so far, and he likes it and understands what I’m trying to develop. He would like the transitional pics up higher on the same level as the menu is going to be, so I’ll be moveing them around. He wants visitors to be able to see it when they enter and not miss it when they just click on a nav button. He also doesn’t like how the flowers overlap too much over the pictures on the transitional pictures, so I’ll be fixing them up a bit too. He wants them up top beside the logo on top of the tiles, I said Eeeewww! I’ll put it in the wood panel area. Hey if I’m going to put my name on this site, it’s gonna have taste.
Now speaking of menu, I spent most of the day trying to perfect the look of brass for the nav buttons. I wanted something that looks real so I can engrave them with the names of the buttons too. This is what I got, this is a blank button without the text and is actually larger than what the finished product will be. Those who photoshop know why.
Now if anybody says that it looks bad, I will personally come to their home and rip them a new asshole, because this was a hard effect to get in photoshop. I saved the style so I will never have to try to make a gold/brass texture again.
Now I just need to get the text to look engraved into it and have it easily readable and I think I’ll add small rivets in the top corners so it looks like they’re rivited to the wood. That will be all day tomorrow

I’ve got quite a few metal gradients Mac, if you’d like I’ll zip them up and send them. That one looks great! what I mean is if you need any for future use

Corey, no, it not real. It’s actually a digital representation of a brass piece of metal. Pretty convincing though ey?

That’s a badass button! Sounds like getting the engraving to look right might be a challenge.

Yea JJ, that’s why I’m taking a break from all coding and graphic design for a day or two. My minds ready to emplode.
So I’ll release the tension with a game of Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood and get a laugh with Chicken Little tonight on the PS2.
