I hate to say it but I wasn’t entirely impressed with this years fireworks celebration for Canada’s 142^nd Birthday.

It was short, and the pyrotechnics were really lame. The ones people bought from the corner stores and shot them off on the other side of the river were almost better.

There was one point where they shot off a bunch of white candlestick ones that lasted for about a minute and a half. I was sitting there, jaw dropped open, wondering, “what the hell is this shit?”

There were some nice ones, but the crappy ones outweighed the good ones. Most of them were just tiny explosions of sparkling colors. I like the ones that go way up and explode lighting up the entire area. There were maybe 4 or 5 of those ones.

I left feeling ripped off. I wish I didn’t waste my time walking all the way there for that boring show.

You would figure they would spend some good money on the Nations Birthday. I mean C’mon!

I took some pictures but, like last year, I used the fireworks setting on my camera and as you can see it doesn’t do a great job. Next time I’m going to use the night settings and stay away from the fireworks settings. You would figure a fireworks setting for taking pictures of fireworks would work huh? LOL

When I woke up this morning-ish I opened up the curtains on the windows and saw nothing but white. The storm we had last night dumped up to 40 cm or more on the city of Fredericton. The snow was up halfway over my windows. I can’t see anything but the huge snowdrift that formed outside the window. I can’t see the parking lot, or the trees off to the right of the building.

Buddy and Brain are a bit pissed off at the moment because they can’t see anything either when they sit up in the window. They seem to be lost without being able to sit up in the window and watch stuff blow by. Seems all they want to do now is just lay around and do nothing. It’s as if their entertainment was taken away.

Corey posted a picture of his road, well, sorta. It’s actually a snow covered field now since the plows haven’t made their way to his place yet. Nice time for a snowshoe or a ski run.

They say we got about 40cm of that white crap already and yet the snowfall warning is still calling for an additional 10cm by the end of the night. I can’t get over how much snow we’ve got in such a short time.

If anybody out there is still wishing they had snow where they live, then by all means. Come and take some. You know what? I’m feeling generous, why don’t you come and take it all?

 

I had to take a walk next door to go pick up a few things like Eggs, Pepsi, Margarine, and milk for those wondering. As I was passing byt the Beer store, they had a funny sign in the window saying, “Sorry, we’re closed due to weather conditions  ”  with a crying face under it. I guess that is what all the dried out and thirsty people, who just spent hours shoveling out their car to get to the beer store, only to find out the store is closed would look like.

I took a few pictures on my walk there just t o show how messy it is outside.

I took advantage of the nice weather today and the fact that I was off work today also, and went for a walk in the park. I took a stroll through Odel Park and took some pictures on my stroll through. You can view all them pictures on my Flickr Account.

I got some really nice shots too. Unfortunately since I cant edit them in Photoshop (because my good computer is FUBAR) I just uploaded them all untouched. There are a few of them I’ll be putting into a panorama image. When I get my good computer up and running again, I’ll update them then.

People were out there sleding and skiing down the hills and having fun. I didn’t photograph them because that would look odd. Some guy by himself in teh woods snapping pictures of strangers. LOL

Anyway, enjoy what I got.

Crappy weather upon crappy weather.

I think this has been the nastiest winters I’ve evperienced in awhile. It fregging cold too! -40°C most days and nights makes your balls crawl up inside your chest.

If it isn’t the cold it’s the snowfall. Heavy snowfall warnings is all we’ve been getting lately. Seems that whenever we get any snow, we get dumped on all at once. There’s no flurry here or there, it’s just BLAMO! here you go, thank you very much, please come again!

AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE MARITIMES DURING THE DAY TODAY AND PASS THROUGH SOUTHERN NEW BRUNSWICK OVERNIGHT. THIS WINTER STORM IS EXPECTED TO BRING A VARIETY OF WINTER WEATHER TO NEW BRUNSWICK. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD INTO SOUTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF THE PROVINCE LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND BY LATE EVENING IT WILL BE FALLING OVER ALL OF NEW BRUNSWICK. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY TONIGHT AND WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY INCREASING EASTERLY WINDS CAUSING NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW. RISING TEMPERATURES OVER SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE PROVINCE WILL CAUSE THE SNOW TO CHANGE THROUGH FREEZING RAIN TO RAIN. HOWEVER CENTRAL DISTRICTS CAN EXPECT AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN DURING THE OVERNIGHT PERIOD. THE PRECIPITATION WILL END OVER MOST AREAS THURSDAY MORNING…

Last night got really messy as you can see by the video. Although the video doesn’t really show the detail enough to actually display just how bad it really was, it still shows some really nasty weather.

While watching the video, pay attention to the snow drift and how high it gets in just a couple of hours. The black car slowly disappears behind it, and the building with the light does too.

After the snow stopped, the wind didn’t. It is still blowing like crazy now.

The supermarket now has mountains of snow, and the shortcut to the store is now blocked by a huge mountain of snow. Now I have to go all the way around the long way.

I really hate winter. It’s cold and messy.

Holy shit we’re getting a lot of rain here in Fredericton NB, Canada! So much that the police are closing down roads here in the city because of flooding.

When I was at work today, I was actually surprised at how high the river was, and that was earlier in the afternoon. It’s still pissing like crazy out there right now and it’s later in the evening. I can expect that a lot of low lying areas will get some pretty bad flooding if this afternoons river height was any indication.

The extended outlook for the weather isn’t any better, as it seems tat we will continue to see rain until Wednesday. It looks like we might get some snow on Thursday though. Ugh! I would rather see the rain than that shitty white stuff that turns gray after it lays on the ground for awhile.

Lucky for the Trick r’ Treaters on Friday too. Looks like it may be a nice day for them to go door to door begging for food. OK, begging for candies. Heh heh, Thank you whoever invented the security door. Little buggers won’t be getting in here and knocking on my door.

Well, anyway, it seems like I might need a canoe to get to work and back if this rain keeps up like it is. It gets pretty heavy at times too and very loud. There no way one can ignore it either because it is so loud.

This morning the east side of the city was in darkness because the power went out. I can see across the city out my work window, and it looked really weird the way it was all black where it is usually lit up with lights. There were a couple of lights here and there, but not enough to make any difference.

The power hasn’t went out here *knocking on wood* at all, yet. I hope it doesn’t though, because it sucks sitting in the dark with no puter to play on, or TV to watch.

Well I guess I go play Mercenaries 2 on the PS3.

I managed to upload all them pictures last night from my little trek through the Odel Park Trails. I was actually worried that by the time I managed to make it there, all the colored leaves would have been blown off the trees. But lucky for me, there was a lot of color to be photographed.
