The Deaths Of Ian Stone

The Deaths of Ian Stone wasn’t a bad movie, but I couldn’t help but think that I have seen it before. As I was watching the movie something in the back of my mind kept saying, “Didn’t you already see this movie?” over and over again.
The thing is, I really didn’t. This is the first time I have seen it, but there was something so familiar to it. Then it hit me about half way through the movie. This is “Final Destination”, The Butterfly Effect”, “The Matrix”, and “Groundhog Day” all bunched up into one story to make one movie. The ideas from all four of these movies come out in this one. That’s why it felt like I’ve already seen the movie even though I haven’t.
Not that those other movies are bad or anything, because this was an alright movie too.
On an otherwise ordinary night, the young Ian Stone encounters a mysterious creature and is forced into the path of an oncoming train. Rather than facing certain death, Ian finds himself reborn into a new life that feels strangely familiar. After his second death, it becomes apparent that Ian is being hunted by an evil presence, and will be forced to die every day until he can solve the mystery of his own life.
Filmed in the UK the Horror/Thriller genre comes out the way I can always expect movies from the UK to be like. I actually like the creativity of the movies created and filmed there. I don’t know but for some reason the movies seem to be more grittier and aren’t fluffed up with special effects like Hollywood sometimes does. I guess I like realism.

This does get a little gory sometimes, but not really a whole lot. I believe the part in the above preview was pretty much the goriest part in the entire movie. Besides the movie being like four familiar ones combined into one, it was actually not all that bad. In the end I did enjoy it. It did get a little uneventful in the middle of the movie there for a bit but it ended picking up again.
There’s just one thing that I didn’t like about this movie. That was the twist at the end. The twist was unexpected and good, but it shoots the preview I provided all to hell. You’ll know what I mean and say something like, “Why the hell didn’t the old man just come out and tell him the first time.” But then there wouldn’t be a movie then huh? If you can get past that point of thinking, then you’ll enjoy it.
If you are into horror/thrillers movies, then chances are you’ll enjoy this one. I did.
