Train that Barking Dog

Monday Jul 2, 2007

While I was living at the old apartment there was a constant and annoying dog that would bark its head off. You could not open a window longer than thirty minutes before the barking drove you nuts. It got very irritable at times.

I got very upset at times because the owner would not bother to go out and discipline his dog, they would just let it go on and on driving the entire neighborhood mad and insane.

Bark CollarI would have actually went to a pet store to shop for bark collars and just gave him one if he would use it to train his dog to stop barking all day and night.

If you think its ok for your dog to bark once or twice, then regulate it with a remote training collar, then at least this way you can regulate its barking. But no barking would be my preference.

Some may feel that this is inhumane and is a cruel thing to do to your pet and think that it hurts the dog when it goes off, but it does not. It only startles them enough to stop barking and it trains them that when they bark it is uncomfortable so they end up avoiding barking altogether.

You can get more sleep, and avoid neighbor confrontations all for just a few bucks. So if you have a barking dog that won’t stop, get it a collar please. There are people out there like me that really don’t want to have to put up with that you know.

This is just my opinion, and you’re entitled to it.

Thanks!

I’m still on the fence about these. My wife bought one for our dog but he was already pretty mild mannered. Coupled with my wife’s already great training, he wore it for maybe two shocks and he listened about 100% after that. (remote control collar) We’ve used a bark color on another dog before…She had a chronic barking thing. Unfortunately though we weren’t training THAT one so I can’t really comment about it’s lasting effectiveness.

I think the remote one would be a better model to use anyway. Just in case you’re dog needs to bark to warn you about something, lets say a burglar or fire.

But when your dog is barking for several hours just trying to talk to the neighborhood, then a quick zap after telling him to be quiet should do.
