Twitter Vs. Facebook – The Final Round
Posted by macbros | Under Internet, My Opinion | 251 views Thursday May 28, 2009Well, I had the Twitter bug awhile back but the effects seem to have slowly started to wear off of me.
I already had a Facebook account, but I rarely ever used it, but as of late I have been on Facebook updating my status every chance I get.
I used to do the same on Twitter, but doing that from your mobile is more work than it is actually worth. With Facebook, I can update on the fly with its handy mobile application. Unfortunately, Twitter has no such application that I am aware of.
Ever since I’ve started adding relatives and good friends to my Facebook account, I’ve become more and more addicted to it. The latest is the Bejeweled game that allows you to compete against your friends.
I like the way everybody’s status stays visible and isn’t knocked down and buried in several pages when you don’t get a chance to check in for a long time. Unlike Twitter, if you follow a lot of people, and have a user that updates every 5 seconds, the other people get buried. Facebook is more interactive.
Instead of tweeting, “I just took a shit.” and having some follower reply to it and you missing the reply because it got buried under pages of other tweets, on Facebook, the status message becomes a forum and all comments are together and folks can interact within said status.
The whole community idea of Facebook is more appealing to me now. Twitter seems to be becoming spams hang out for spam followers these days. And there’s nothing on the internet that I hate worse is spam. For example, not more than 2 minutes went by when I posted on Twitter that my web host is fubar did I get a follower called ‘This Web Host’ following me.
So, from what I can tell. Facebook is throwing some winning punches as far as I’m concerned. I’ll probably stop manually updating my Twitter and just let my web site update when I post. I rarely ever check the tweets on Twitter anymore now either, so for those who follow me, don’t take it personal. Twitter doesn’t make it easy to stay connected to their service when you’re on the go all the time.
Pretty soon Facebook will KO Twitter, but that’s just my opinion, and you’re entitled to it.
Have an opinion to add?

Yeah, I’ve kind of gotten tired of Twitter too and spend more time on Facebook. But, I also think I have a bit of interwebs burnout.
@DragonLady – Yea. There are days that I get burnt out from it too. But lucky for me it doesn’t last to long.
i gave up my facebook account a while back. The definition of facebook is as follows…
Facebook : a website dedicated to reminding you why you didn’t keep in touch with 90% of the jackasses on your friends list in the first place.
@Uhh Yeah – Well yea. If you add the jackasses to your list in the first place, I suppose that would be true.
My list is mostly family though.
