Nope, I seem to be to busy to help you out, and it seems it will be this way indefinitely.

I’ll explain that title and tag line in a bit.
Today I wasn’t so lucky to have the day fly by as fast as it did yesterday. We had a few reservations that kept everybody busy. When I got in I had to get everything fired up and also had to get the breakfast buffet ready and cooked up. The guy I was working with did the same. Everything was going smoothly. Folks were eating off the buffet, but there were a lot of them ordering from the menu.
The whole point of the buffet was to take the pressure off the line. So both the guy working the line and myself working the buffet were swamped. It was supposed to be me asking fro certain things for the buffet and the guy would get what he could while I did the same. It ended up a 4 person day instead of a 2 person day. To top it off the dishwasher was calling in late. So we had to keep the buffet inserts clean also.
Everything was fine once we had it under control, even though it was still crazy busy. Unfortunately the time didn’t go by fast like it usually does when you’re busy.
Then the Chef came in, and helped relieve the stress. But after awhile it was like he couldn’t handle the demand. It was if he was taking everything to serious and over analyzed the situation and got into an ugly mood. He also snapped at me over something completely ridiculous, and I didn’t actually do anything wrong. I have to admit, it was rather demeaning and uncalled for. Especially when you’re having trouble keeping staff, and you pull that shit off, you’ll see another walk out. I won’t be put down and demeaned in that way by anybody.
So the day finally came to an end and I managed to get 15 minutes out of my half hour lunch. When I was having them last 15 minutes of my break, just before it was time to go home somebody called in and said they can’t make it in. Apparently this is a common thing there. He asked the other guy if he could stick around, and he said no. Chef threw a tantrum, and asked me, just 5 minutes before my drive was to arrive.
Nope, sorry. My drive is coming from across town and I’m not going to send them away. Besides I’m not feeling that great, and especially after being made to feel like shit because somebody’s temper got in the way. In my opinion, and you’re entitled to it, when you insult somebody, you shouldn’t have the gull to ask a favor a couple of hours later.
So that’s the tag line and title, ” Ummm, let me check my schedule…Nope, I seem to be to busy to help you out, and it seems it will be this way indefinitely. ”
You know after working in the food services for the total of 11 years and 3 weeks, I still don’t understand why workers feel it’s alright for a person to snap at them and belittle them just because they have a Chef Title. One person said it was out of respect, and I said, respect is a two sided agreement. Nobody has any right to take their frustrations out on anybody else. If you don’t have patience, then you should find a career making lightning or something that doesn’t take more than a second to happen.
I know you have to take your job serious, but taking it way to serious is just stupid. Going off the edge because it’s busy is ridiculous! If it’s that bad, hire more staff. It’s not like we’re all standing around with our thumbs up our ass.
Oh, that was a rant wasn’t it!? I still hate the job.
I’m off for the next two days, so I‘ll be having Am Having a few bubblies. Wobbly Pops if you will.
Hopefully after about four months go by, I can stay home and work from home if all my plans fall into place. *crossing fingers*

I’ve met a few people like that. Regardless of your title you need to treat people with respect. I practice that.
That would be nice working from home.
Exactly Opal!
I bet the folks you show respect for respect you right back too don’t they?
Once I get 2 or 3 more sites up, Working from home will be a possibility. Just getting the time to open them up and optimize them, and actually posting stuff will be challenging for about 4 months though.
And you know, Chef shit stinks just like everybody else’s.
