I have been doing some research on some hosting companies that will not be a pain in the, you know what, with CPU Usage Exceeded error that I have been getting a lot of lately.

In my snooping around the concept of Virtual Servers was introduced to me and after reading up on the great advantage they have over shared hosting, this would be the greatest thing for my site since I receive so much traffic. Unfortunately it’s just out of my price range, but if you are a business and operating on a shared hosting server, you might want to seriously think about getting Virtual Servers to host your web site.

Web Fusion has completed some serious overhauls on their servers and they went all out to make sure that they offer the best and most stable platforms for hosting your sites.

Check out their Press Release;

WebFusion has given its virtual private server (VPS) range a complete revamp, providing industry-leading value for money and a raft of new features to maximise website performance.

The new WebFusion VPSs have unlimited traffic with guaranteed and burstable RAM to ensure that websites perform, even when handling sudden traffic peaks. The latest version of the Plesk control panel, combined with the Virtuozzo control panel at the back end, provides webmasters with root access for complete control. Linux-based VPSs are Ruby and Ruby-on-Rails ready and run on Ubuntu 6.06, while Windows servers are equipped with SQL Server 2005 and ASP.net 2.0.

With prices from £14.99 per month, WebFusion VPSs are available on Linux and Windows, and are perfect for both webmasters of business critical websites and the reseller community.

“Our new range of virtual private servers is our best yet,” says Mark Beyer, sales and marketing director at WebFusion. “Server enhancements, such as guaranteed and burstable RAM, mean that our VPSs are a step closer to providing dedicated server performance, with a price normally associated with shared hosting. We believe these advancements make our VPS offering the best in class.”

Additional benefits of WebFusion VPS include:
• Lower prices, with servers available from £14.99 per month
• Better hardware: Dell PowerEdge 2950 Energy Smart
• New contention ratio for servers to reduce the effect of ‘noisy neighbours’ on the server
• Ruby preinstalled on Linux VPS and Ruby-on-Rails available via a single click in Plesk
• Extra disk space available
• SCSI RAID 10 for reliability and business continuity
• Plesk 8.1 installed as standard (worth £200)
• Root access available via Virtuozzo

There is also something that they don’t mention in the press release and that is something that the Linux users would like to see, and that is besides having Windows as an OS, you can also use Linux Ubuntu 6.06 instead.

If you’re serious about hosting, then this is what you’ll need to get as Virtual Servers seem to be the way to go. It may seem a bit higher than the cheap shared hosting that you see all over, but you’ll get what you pay for with Web Fusion. No more CPU Usage Errors!

I’ve been thinking about using a VPS, not only because you get your own IP, but it it much more secure than shared servers.

JS, exactly. Great when your ISP is throttling Torrents too.
