WordPress 2.7.1 Has Been Unleashed

The latest version of WordPress has been released just moments ago.
Unfortunately, I discovered that the admin automatic update feature is not working and I get an error saying that I don’t have the proper permissions to do it.
I went into my FTP and set all the settings WIDE OPEN and it still wouldn’t allow the automatic update. So I quickly set them back to 755 when it didn’t work.
I went on to the forums to see if there was similar problems, and even though there were, as for a solution, there was none.
So I ended up having to download the ZIP file and then FTPing the entire thing manually. No big deal really, but it just irks me that the automatic update doesn’t work.
The plug-in updater has been working all along, but that may have changed without me knowing because there was some updates being done by my hosting service to the servers, so I’m not sure if that would have anything to do with it, but if I get the same error when I go to update a plug-in, then we’ll know that it was.
Well anyway. I’m up to date. I have WordPress 2.7.1. Despite the problems updating, I got it updated.
