I just got finished with a messenger voice chat with a well known animation firm that contacted me through e-mail asking me if I use MSN.

I said no, but I have Skype and Yahoo.

They said great, please invite them to chat via Yahoo or Skype. I used Yahoo and had a very interesting conversation.

Apparently they like the different voices I’ve used in several of my own animations and videos and they somehow found a couple I’ve done privately last year. They wanted to know if I would be interested in doing a voice for a character they have in an upcoming animation they’ll be placing on their site in the next coming months.

I said sure! How much?

They said that they really don’t receive a lot of revenue from the site and most of the work is from help of volunteers.

I know what your thinking, BS right? So am I.

I can’t say who they are, but they are pretty popular among the online animation community. I can’t say because I agreed to do it and they requested that no details be said about it.

I will get a credit though!

I’ve done this before so I know how it all goes. This may never actually even make it to the site. Sometimes by the time the animation is completed, it’s novelty has wore off and they never bother with it. They gave me a FLASH file of the character to work with and the script, so you’ll be seeing the desktop cam turned off a lot, at least when I’m working on it. Sorry. Top Secret!

I just wanted to mention this, just in case folks peek in on the desktop cam and wonder why it’s off all the time. Or at least till I’m finished it.

So until the site posts it. I’ll post something here with a flash animation of my character when they do.

Plus I just wanted to go, “Naaaner - naaaner - naaaaaneeeeerrrrrrr!”

PS: This FLASH file has all the BG sounds in it too. KEWEL!

I forgot to mention that the voice I’ll be doing requires me to be a bit loud when doing it. My neighbor is probably wondering WTF is going on up here at 1 am. :drunksing:

BTW: Why is it I get all these opportunities and never get any real good cash from them?

I’ve done so many things in the past and probably should have been paid BIG BUCKS for them.

I guess I will never learn. l-)

Congrats.
Yeah I think that is kind of silly. The service is obviously needed since they approached you. If you were a “star” that would be different they would pay your more. I have a friend that does voice overs he does fairly well at it.

Opal, I did a couple of them already, it was the Holidays and I wanted to try it out. And you don’t need a whole lot of fancy stuff to do it either.

If it end up being something that’s going to be a repetitive thing, they will have to pay. I am still looking for full time work btw.
